Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on March 23, 2000.
The bell refers to both the old bell (made in 1573) of the local church and the newspaper "Varpas" ("Bell"), which in the 1890ies made an essential impact to the Lithuanian national revival. The editor of "Varpas", Vincas Kudirka (author of the National Anthem), worked partially in Plokščiai.
