BAD BLEIBERG

State : Kärnten
District : Villach-Land

Arms (crest) of Bad Bleiberg

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 28, 1967.

The arms are divided per pale. The right half of shield illustrates the healing waters which are so important to Bad (spa) Bleiberg nowadays. The left half illustrates Bleiberg's past. Bleiberg is itself a canting name, meaning mountain of lead, hence the use of the well-known miner's tools (mallet and chisel) to denote mining and an alchemistical symbol for lead. The latter, however, appears not to be drawn correctly.
