Origin/meaningThe arms were officially granted on ?? The cross refers to the fact that the village was owned by the State and Diocese of Goslar from the 11th until the 18th century. The cross also refer to the fact that the village was a seat of a church official, a Superintendentur, for the whole region. The cross finally refer to the fact that the village developed on the crossroads of important trade roads to Goslar, Braunschwieg and Leipzig. The colours are those of the Duchy of Braunschweig, to which the region historically belonged. The cross is divided to represent Semmenstedt and Timmern. |
