Origin/meaning
Nierstein was situated in the 10th-12th century in a large Royal estate, in which in 1024 King Konrad II was crowned. The oldest seal of the city of Nierstein dates from 1272 and show the Royal and Imperial eagle. The two stars distinguish the arms from many similar arms, but were often removed on later seals. Otherwise the arms have not changed since 1272.
