Province : West-Vlaanderen
Additions : 1976 Houtave, Meetkerke, Nieuwmunster

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on February 25, 1845 and again on May 9, 1989.

The arms are derived from the arms of Uitkerke, as historically the area was part of the estate of Uitkerke. To distinguish the arms from the arms of Uitkerke, a merlet was added.

The arms on the map of Pieter Pourbus (1571, Groeningemuseum, Brugge)

The arms in the Koffie Hag/Café Hag albums +/- 1930

Literature: Servais, 1955
