SÚÐUR MULASÝSLA

Origin/meaning :
The arms show a monster said to inhabit the large lake called Lögurinn and it wrings itself around a golden ring.

According to a legend a girl was given a gold ring and told that gold will grow if a worm is put on top of it. This she did and indeed the gold grew but so did the worm. When she saw how the worm had grown she threw it, with the gold, into the lake. In the lake the worm grew into a monster which still lives there lying on its gold ring.
