Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Germany - Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) |
OKER
State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Goslar
Incorporated into : 1972 Goslar
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on January 16, 1950 and show the local fortified tower, the oldest building in the town. The waves in the base of the shield symbolise the Oker river, whereas the pine trees stand for the forests in the area. The shield with the mining tools is a reminder of the old mining activities that started in the 16th century.
