PROMOTION 1961-1963 BIR HAKEIM OF THE SPECIAL MILITARY SCHOOL SAINT-CYR COËTQUIDAN, FRENCH ARMY
Origin/meaning
The Grenade symbolises the French Foreign Legion Troops and the Anchor the French Colonial Troops, which made up the bulk of the 1st Free French Brigade. This Brigade fought the Battle of Bir Hakiem 1942 in the Libyan Desert against the German and Italian Troops.
