Origin/meaning
All the elements in the arms are traditional and canting: they show a "mar", a "mà", a "torre" and a "martell" (Catalan for sea, hand, tower and hammer, respectively). The marquis crown at the top of the arms refers to the fact that Martorell has been the centre of a marquisat since 1637.
