VREES
State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Emsland
Samtgemeinde : Samtgemeinde Werlte
German |
Origin/meaningThe arms were officially granted on ??-??-????. The blue bar symbolises the name of the village, which can be derived to Weres, or running water. The green oak refers to the forests in the municipality, which were historically used as hunting forests for the Prince-Bishops of Münster and the Dukes of Arenberg. The base shows a crosier and mitre with a small banner with the letters SN, all referring to the local patron saint, St. Nicholas. The colours are taken from the arms of the other municipalities in the Samtgemeinde Werlte. Literature: Image and info obtained from http://www.werlte.de |
