Origin/meaning

The star in chief is taken from the arms of Cardinal Godfried Danneels under whom Bishop de Hovre served. IHS is the symbol of the Jesuits, to whom the bishop belonged.

The main charge is an iris flower, symbol of the Brussels Region. The colours red and green are those of the city of Brussels.

The achievement is completed with the heraldic insignia of a prelate of the rank of bishop.
