VIMBODÍ I POBLET
Region : Catalonia
Province : Tarragona
Official blazon
Escut caironat: d'or, una bóta de gules ajaçada sobremuntada un sarment pampolat de 2 pàmpols de sinople i fruitat d'un raïm de propra. Per timbre, una corona mural de vila.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on July 23, 1985.
Canting arms: they show traditionally the grapes and a barrel, an allusion to the "vi" (Catalan for "wine") in the name of the town. Actually, grapes are the main crop of Vimbodí. The history of the town has been linked ever since to the Cistercian monastery of Poblet, founded in 1151 by count-king Ramon Berenguer IV in the area of the present municipality of Vimbodí.
