Origin/meaning

Möhringen became a city in the last decade of the 13th century, when Bishop Heinrich von Klingenberg granted city rights. The city did not develop, however until the 15th century. The arms were granted in 1470 by Emperor Friedrich III, and immediately used in the seals of the city.

The upper part of the arms show the arms of the Lords of Klingenberg, whereas the lower part of the arms is canting. The Moor was also used in the arms of the Lords of Möhringen.

The arms by Hupp in the Kaffee Hag albums +/- 1925

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
