Origin/meaning

The first arms were officially granted on October 30, 1946 and the current arms on October 5, 1988.

The old arms are based on the seals of the village, known from 1416 and 1422, which both show a saltire. These are the arms of the Lords of Heverlee who ruled the village from 1139-1446.

The arms from 1946

In the new arms the previous arms are quartered with the leaf of Leefdaal in the fourth quarter and new symbols for Korbeek-Dijle in the second and third quarter. These quarters are based on the arms on the seal of Korbeek-Dijle from 1740, which shows the arms of the Jacobs and Crabeels families, the last Lords of Korbeek-Dijle in the 18th century.
