LONDON, TILBURY AND SOUTHEND RAILWAY

Coat of arms (crest) of London, Tilbury and Southend Railway
Official blazon
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The company dates from 1852 and was taken over by the Midland Railway in 1912. The arms show Tilbury Fort, originally a blockhouse built by Henry VIII for the defence of the Thames with the arms of London, Essex and Kent (as it also operated ferries between Tilbury and Gravesend).
