Official blazon
English Azure, a tower between five martlets Or.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 30, 1969.

The five traditional Sussex martlets represent the five former forces of the county, a tower for a tower of strength - the safeguard of the public interest by the police- and a background indicating the sea.

The five forces that amalgamated were Brighton Borough Police, Eastbourne Borough Police, Hastings Borough Police, West Sussex Constabulary and East Sussex Constabulary.
