HÖRSUM
State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Hildesheim (until 1974 Alfeld)
Incorporated into : 1974 Alfeld
Origin/meaning :
The arms were officially granted on June 22, 1938.
The local villagers are called owls, the reason for this is not known. Besides this, the village is surrounded by woods, in which owls are quite common. The arms are based on the banner of the local youth club, which used the owl as its symbol.
