Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 15, 1958.

The town belonged to the State of Mainz from the 14^th century until 1802. The arms thus show the wheel of the State of Mainz, but in opposite colours since the mid 19^th century. The use of the wheel as village symbol is known since 1550.
