Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on
Burgheim received town rights around 1336 and the oldest seal dates from the same time. The seal showed a simple castle, probably a canting element (Burg=castle), but it may also symbolise the local castle built by the Counts of Graisbach. All later seals and images have shown the same simple castle. The colours have differed widely during the centuries; the above colours have been used since the early 20th century.
