Origin/meaning

The arms were officially registered in 1983.

The arms show the front part of a bull. The bull is taken as a symbol of the Cimbri, a Germanic tribe that lived in the area until the 3rd or 4th century AD. The bull was also part of the seal of Års herred from 1610 and from the arms of the Ålborg Amt.

Literature: Zeuthen, 2000.
