ØSTFOLD PROVINCE

Arms of Østfold

Official blazon

På rød bunn en gull tredelt solstråle skrått oppad.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 26, 1958.

The arms show three solar rays, symbol for sunrise and the fact that the province is in the South Eastern corner of the country. The straight rays symbolise light, the wavy ray heat.
