ŠILAVOTAS
County : Kaunas
Municipality : Prienai
Lithuanian | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on July 19, 2005.
The arms are canting: "šilavotas" refers to "pinewood" in Lithuanian. Also it reminds the merits of local priest Antanas Radusis for the development of the town: one of his numerous initiatives was planting a pinewood of 12.000 pines, which still surroound the town now. The number of pine branches also symbolizes the three lads from Šilavotas who were among the first warriors of Lithuania who died for independence.
