Origin/meaning

The arms were registered on May 31, 2005.

The oldest known seal of the village dates from 1723. The seal shows a letter Z in a crowned shield. A later seal, used in the early 20th century showed a landscape with a well.

The reeds represent the small Žermanický lom lake, the site of a former quarry. The chief symbolises the large artificial lake and dam next to the the village. The crown is taken from the old 1723 seal. The colours are those of the Frýdek estate to which the village historically belonged.

The original proposal, see below, showed a fleur-de-lys as a symbol of St. Mary, this was replaced by the crown in the final design.

Five other proposals were made before the current arms were approved and granted, see below. Most with similar symbolism, as well as the eagle taken from the Principality of Teschen (Těšín).
