Un scut triunghiular cu marginile rotunjite, tăiat. În partea superioară a scutului, despicată, în primul cartier, în câmp roșu, se află un turn de cetate crenelat, flancat de ziduri crenelate de aur. În partea superioară a scutului, în al doilea cartier, în câmp de argint, se află un corn dezrădăcinat, redat în culoarea sa naturală verde. În vârful scutului, în câmp albastru, se află o fântână de argint. Scutul este trimbrat de o coroană murală de argint cu 3 turnuri crenelate.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 17, 2007.

The fortress symbolizes the defense fortress in northwestern Transylvania, the Chioar Fortress. The tree signifies the existence of numerous forests of this kind in the locality area.

The tree and the well are stylized and refer to the existence of the seal of the locality from 1866; toponym of Șomcuta locality: Somkut - som = hornbeam, and kut = fountain.

The mural crown with 3 crenellated towers means that the town has the status of a city.
