Origin/meaning

The oak leaf denotes strength. The Wings stands both for swiftness and the Battalion's previous aviation maintenance role. The Wheel is for mobility and versatility. The colors bule, red and yellow stand for the varying technical companies which compromise the Battalion and for the Combat Arms which it supports. The Two stars indicates the Unit's two campaigns of World War II - the Rhineland and Central Europe. They also refer to the "COSTAR" origin of maintenance direct support Battalions. The Trivet, and iron frame used for support, alludes to the Support function. The Gear Wheel indicated the transition from Maintenance to Support Branch. The Indian head symbolises the Location at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Oklahoma was formerly known as the Indian Territory.

The arms were approved on 16 September 2006. The Distinctive Unit Insignia was orignally approved on ? December 1966 for the 68th Maintenance Battalion. It was redesignated for the 168th Support Battalion on 16 September 2006.
