===Origin/meaning===
The Chevron is used to denote support. The same is in the Distinctive Unit Insignia symbolises by the Hands holding the Star. The rayonne represent the Northern Lights and the Blue refers to the Infantry. The Eight pointed Star symbolises the Seven Stars of the Constellation Big Dipper plus the Northern Star, thus alluding to the location in Alaska.
The arms were approved on 28 September 1965 and the Distinctive Unit Insignia on 5 January 1966.
