Motto: STRENGTH AND JUSTICE.
Distinctive Unit Insignia. Description: A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 5/32 inches (2.94 cm) consisting of a shield blazoned: Per chevron Or and Vert, in base the Scales of Justice of the first; on a canton Gules a "houn' dawg" statant of the third. Attached below and on the sides of the shield a Gold scroll inscribed "STRENGTH AND JUSTICE" in Red letters.
Origin/meaning
Green and yellow are the colors of the Military Police. The Scales of Justice are symbolic of the function of the organization. The "houn' dawg" on the canton shows the Battalion's descent from the 203d Coast Artillery Regiment.
The arms were approved on 24 October 1952. It was cancelled on 6 July 1972. The arms were reinstated on 23 January 1997. The Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 24 October 1952.
