Official blazon

Shield: Quarterly azure and argent a griffin sejant or grasping two flashes saltirewise gules.
Motto: Vigilance above

Origin/meaning

Oriental blue and silver grey are the colours of Military Intelligence Units. The crosswise arrangement of the shield is an allusion to the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm awarded to the Battalion for Vietnam service. The griffin symbolises the Intelligence role of the Battalion. The Wings symbolises the Airborne mission, the flashes symbolises the electronic data collection mission.
