Origin/meaning

The Winged Wiking Ship symbolises the Maritime Operations and the Naval Aviators who formed the Original Squadron. The badge was originally approved by King George VI on 10 May 1943. Later approved in new Badge Frame by King Haakon and King Olav V on 30 January 1980. Present Badge approved by the Chief of Defence on 3 July 2008.
