Distinctive Unit Insignia. Description: A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height consisting of a gold globe surmounted in base by a blue disc charged with a gold wheel, the disc within a red horseshoe, enveloped by gold wings displayed.
Origin/meaning
Shield: Brick red and golden yellow are the colors used for Transportation Battalions. The wings, horseshoe and wheel symbolize the basic systems and modes of conveyance of men and materiel. The globe alludes to the worldwide aspects of transportation. Crest: The award of the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry for service in Vietnam is represented by the gold cross. The swords also refer to that decoration and recall participation in campaigns in Europe during World War II. The wreath of laurel symbolizes the award of the Republic of Vietnam Civil Action Honor Medal, First Class. The transportation mission as a Truck Battalion is recalled by the annulet. The torteau encircled by bamboo represents the award of four Meritorious Unit Commendations for Vietnam service. The propeller alludes to the unit’s function of supply and maintenance for Army aircraft in Vietnam. Scarlet signifies courage; gold denotes excellence.

The arms were originally approved on 27 November 1995. It was amended to include a crest on 31 March 1997. The insignia was amended to include a motto on 19 March 1999. The Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 12 December 1966.
