Sicily where the Unit recieved its baptism of fire. The Eruption of flames refers to subsequent participation in thirteen campaigns in Italy, France, Germany and
Korea. The Laurel wreath alludes to the award of two French Croix-de-Guerre. The Star alludes to the third award of the Croix-de-Guerre. The Hourglass alludes to the
insignia of the 7th Division, with which the 77th Served during the Korean War, earning twice the Korean Presidental Unit Citation.
