Official blazon

A silver color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall consisting of a silver torch enflamed yellow superimposed by a blue star and overall a silver cross bearing a red sea lion and all enclosed in base and on either side by a maroon scroll inscribed “SERVING THE BRAVE” in silver.

Origin/meaning

Maroon and white (silver) are the colors traditionally associated with the Medical Corps. The torch symbolizes knowledge and leadership while reflecting the Army Reserve mission. The star, which is blue to denote devotion to duty, has five points highlighting the unit’s campaigns in the Pacific during World War II. The sea lion commemorates the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation. The cross underscores the unit’s mission.

The Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 14 February 1995. Literature: Image and Information from The Institute of Heraldry, US Army.
