Origin/meaning :
The arms were officially granted on May 13, 1997 and before (above left) on May 9, 1936. The arms only differ in the crown an dthe name of the city on the ribbon.

The three fleur-de-lis in the chief are taken from the Order of Saint Bernard, which played an important role in the local history. The fleur-de-lis are the old arms of France as the order originated from France.

The tower and crescent are older Arab symbols and indicate the long history of the city. The wavy bars symbolise the Aloca and Baça rivers.
