The oldest seal of Alsheim dates from around 1501 and already shows the above composition. The second seal from the late 17th century shows the same composition as well, but with an additional letter A. The meaning of the two crosiers is not quite clear. It may be representing the fact that the two churches in Alsheim were owned by the bishops of Worms and Mainz. Another explanation is that the crosiers refer to the patron saint of the oldest church, St. Bonifatius.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1926 with a blue shield (see below). When the colours were changed I do not know.

Wappen von Alsheim

The oldest seal of Alsheim dates from around 1501 and already shows the above composition. The second seal from the late 17th century shows the same composition as well, but with an additional letter A. The meaning of the two crosiers is not quite clear. It may be representing the fact that the two churches in Alsheim were owned by the bishops of Worms and Mainz. Another explanation is that the crosiers refer to the patron saint of the oldest church, St. Bonifatius.
