Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Germany - Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) |
ALZEY-WORMS (AZ)
State : Rheinland-Pfalz
Additions : 1969 Alzey, Worms
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1971.
The dragon was taken from the old arms of the district Worms. The violin is taken from the arms of the city of Alzey. Both symbols also refer to the Nibelungenlied, one of the medieval stories of Germany, which plays in the area. In the story Siegfried kills a dragon and there is a character called Volker, who plays the violin.
