Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1936.
The horns supposedly were granted to Gescher as village sign by Bishop Erpho of Münster, and are a symbol for the hunting rights of the villagers. More likely, the arms are derived from the arms of the Van der Becke family, who originated from the area and who used two horns in their arms. Their arms are known since 1421. In any case, the horns have been used as a village sign for a long time prior to the granting of the arms.
