Official blazon

Or, on a saltire Gules a golden fleece of the First; on a chief of the Second a bar wavy Argent charged with two barrulets wavy Azure.

Above the Shield is placed a coronet appropriate to a statutory District, videlicet:-a circlet richly chased, from which are issuant eight thistle-heads (three and two halves visible) Or; and in an Escrol under the same this Motto "Quinque Uniter". eight thistle-heads (three and two halves visible) Or; and in an Escrol under the Shield this Motto Reviresco .

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on February 13, 1976.

The arms show the saltire taken from the arms of the city of Annan, with a golden fleece from the arms of Langholm. The chief shows two wavy bars, symbolising the Annan and Esk rivers. The motto "Quinque Uniter" (Five in unity) indicates the five burghs that were combined in the district.
