ARCHDIOCESE OF MINSK-MOHILEV (Archidioecesis Minscensis Latinorum-Mohiloviensis Latinorum)

Denomination : Roman Catholic

Established : 1772 as Diocese of Mohilev by Empress Catherine the Great of Russia, she elevated the Diocese
to a non metropolitan Archdiocese in 1782. Pope Pius VI recognized this action in 1783 in the Bull Onerosa pastoralis officii.
In 1798 territory was lost to create the Diocese of Minsk, and Mohilev was raised to a Metropolitan Archdiocese.
Suppressed in 1991 and merged with the Diocese of Minsk to from the Archdiocese of Minsk-Mohilev.
