Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on April 15, 2013.

The green symbolizes the hope for a better life held by the ancestors who left France for New France. It also refers to the idea of working the land. The blue and the fleurs-de-lis refer to France, homeland of the family’s ancestors, and to Quebec, the place where they settled. The sun represents a common origin that spreads out into various family units. The M-shaped fess alludes to the first letter of the Montambault family name.

The maple tree represents the Montambault family tree and Canada. It also symbolizes the presence of maple trees on the Île d’Orléans, where Michel Montambault settled in 1665, and in the town of Deschambault, where his son François settled in 1738. A maple grove still stands on that site, which continues to be owned by the Montambault family. The sheaves of wheat honour the working of the land by generations of Montambaults, as well as their successes and accomplishments.

The motto means “Perseverance and pride”.Literature: Image and information from http://www.gg.ca
