De gueules à la croix cléchée, vidée et pommetée de douze pièces d’or ; à la bordure crénelée d’argent.

Origin/meaning

The arms show the cross of the arms of the Languedoc. The white band could represents the ramparts of Carcassonne, the medieval town which is also the capital of the département.
