Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 27, 1973.

The green shield symbolises that the village is in the centre of the Aukrug natural reserve. The wavy bar in the base symbolises the three small rivers in the municipality; the Buckjener Au, the Mitbek and the Bünzau.

The main symbol symbolises the unification of the five villages, symbolised by roses, to the new Aukrug municipality in 1969. The wheel-shape also indicates the position of the municipality on the crossing of two historical main roads.

Literature : Reissmann, 1997
