BAIERDORF BEI ANGER

State : Steiermark
District : Weiz

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 2, 1983.

The fleur-de-lis represents, in due heraldic abstraction, a spring, Maria Grünbründl. The waters of this spring are reported to have miraculous powers. The Bavarian (Bayern) colours, blue and white, are hinting at the name of the village, Baierdorf, a place where Bavarians settled in the Middle Ages. The arms contain allusions to water and to stone (talc is mined at the Rabenwald within the municipality).
