Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted in 1978. The silver field symbolises the grey monolith in the village of Vehrte (the Süntelstein). The silver and black are also taken from the arms of the State of Osnabrück, and the cross symbolises that the area was ruled by the Bishops of Osnabrück.

The four arms of the cross symbolise the four villages in the municipality.
The kettle-hook, the main symbol in the arms, is taken from the important medieval family Meier from Belm.
