German heraldry:

Selected collector's items from Germany:

BEVERGERN

State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Steinfurt (until 1974 Tecklenburg)
Incorporated into : 1975 Hörstel

Wappen von Bevergern/Arms (crest) of Bevergern
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1937 and are based on the old seals of the city. The beaver's head is canting (Beaver=Bever in the local dialect, or Biber in German). The beaver already appeared on the oldest seal of the city, which dates from the 15th century.

The arms have not changed since, except for the colours of the beaver, which has often been shown in proper colours, as shown below by Hupp in the 1920s.
