Arms (crest) of Bielawa

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

Bielawa (Langenbielau) has been known since the 13th century as a huge foot-hill village, typical for the area, stretched along a mountain spring for many kilometers. In the later centuries weaver's craft developed, which finally resulted in urbanization of the village in the 19th century as a textile industry centre.

In 1924 town rights were granted, accompanied by the arms above. The arms refer to the textile profile of the town. In 1945 the town came under the Polish administration and was renamed into Bielawa.
