BIELLA

Region : Piemonte
Province : Biella

Biella1.jpg

Official blazon

D'oro, all'olmo al naturale nodrito sul terrazzo erboso di verde, all'orso al naturale passante ai piedi dell'olmo.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on April 26, 1660 and again on August 7, 1931.

The bear means strength and boldness for the people of this mountain region and is widespread in the Alps area. The beech is a typical tree and symbolizes the resistance to the unbridled passions and the preference for the retired life, as well as the symbol of agriculture and abundance of fruits.
