The arms granted in 1838 show the arms of the Lords of Binche, who ruled the city for the Counts of Hainaut. | |||
In 1857 the arms were changed and based on the seal of the city from 1245. This seal showed the local castle, one of the main castles of the Counts of Hainaut. Besides the castle there are two small shields, one with the arms of Hainaut and one with the lion of Binche. These arms were better described and re-granted in 1980 after the merger with the other municipalities. | |||

Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on June 30, 1838 and new arms were granted on May 26, 1857, which were confirmed on February 12, 1980.
The arms granted in 1838 show the arms of the Lords of Binche, who ruled the city for the Counts of Hainaut.
In 1857 the arms were changed and based on the seal of the city from 1245. This seal showed the local castle, one of the main castles of the Counts of Hainaut. Besides the castle there are two small shields, one with the arms of Hainaut and one with the lion of Binche. These arms were better described and re-granted in 1980 after the merger with the other municipalities.
