Origin/meaning

The first arms were granted on November 9, 1907 and the present arms were granted on July 6, 1981.

The arms from 1907 show the arms of the Van Colen family, Lords of Boeckhout from 1693 until the end of the 18th century.

In the present arms these are paled with the old arms of Vremde.
