Official blazon

  • (1943) I blått fält en trana av silver med röd sten och beväring (därest dylik skall komma till användning), stående på ett bevingat hjul av silver.
  • (1976) I blått fält en trana av silver med hjässa, ben och näbb röda, vilken i sin upplyfta högra fot håller en röd sten, stående ovanför två av vågskuror bildade strängar av silver.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1976 and combine the old arms (see below) with two wavy bars symbolising the Ljusnan and Voxnan rivers.

The previous arms were granted on July 29, 1943.

Bollnäs kommunvapen

The crane with a stone, indicating vigilance, was taken from the seal of the Bollnäs parish. The winged wheel is a symbol of railways and indicates the importance of the town as a railway junction.
