BORNICH
State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Rhein-Lahn Kreis (until 1969 Loreleykreis)
Verbandsgemeinde : Verbandsgemeinde Loreley
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on June 3, 1981.
The arms are based on the oldest known seal of the village, known since 1521. The arms show the lion of Hessen as the village historically belonged to Hessen. The arms of Hessen are held by the local patron saint, St. Urbanus.
In 1956 the arms below were proposed, with a partial lion of Hessen, to distinguish the arms from those of the State of Hessen.
